SERVE one another - Locally
Serving is one of the best ways to live out your faith in community with others and is the most powerful way to make a difference in your life, the life of your family and the life of others. Whether it's helping in the family ministry on Sunday mornings or serving on the other side of the world, opportunities to serve are plentiful here at Redeemer and we encourage everyone to get involved in shaping our church, our local Austin community, and our world.
We recognize how busy schedules can be, and we also recognize there's a million things competing for your time and attention. Here at Redeemer we really believe that serving is paramount to growing closer to Jesus and as He taught us to serve by His own example, that's what we are working towards.
Family Life Ministry
The Family Life Ministry at Redeemer provides opportunities to serve in a variety of capacities. From working with our newborns to working with our students, serving as part of our Family Life Team is ideal for people with a passion to serve the next generation in an energetic, crazy-fun and fast-paced environment. These young people and their families are the future of our church, our city, and the world and we are constantly looking for people who want to help shape the next generation for Jesus.
Academy Four is a local ministry partner that provides one on one mentoring for fourth graders at Wooten Elementary School. Mentoring is the most effective tool to give children greater academic achievement, school involvement, self-esteem, and to view their futures more positively. Through mentoring for just 90 minutes a month, our volunteers are opening young minds to the possibilities and choices of a different future. Our mentors are literally changing the landscape of our neighborhood elementary school one young mind at a time.
Redeemer is a fairly large family and our Administrative Ministry provides opportunities to serve in our ministry offices and more behind the scenes. This team serves in a variety of capacities in and around our ministry offices and no two projects are alike. If you are someone who desires to serve behind the scenes and help support a variety of ministries here at Redeemer, the Administrative Ministry is for you.
Texas Ramp Project
The Texas Ramp Project changes people's lives on a daily basis... hundreds of times a year! Redeemer partners with TRP to build wheelchair ramps for disabled and elderly people who do not have the means to build or purchase one on their own. In a few hours time, TRP is giving people the freedom to leave their home again -- the home where they want to remain but whose steps have imprisoned them.
Drive a Senior
Drive a Senior connects volunteer drivers with seniors who live nearby and who choose to continue living independently. Last year alone Drive a Senior provided more than 36,000 rides for people needing a trip to the grocery store, to the doctor, or to visit a family member or friend in the area. Partnering with Drive a Senior is an opportunity to meet a specific need and build a lasting-relationship with someone in the area in need.
Guest Experience Ministry
The Guest Experience Ministry at Redeemer provides opportunities to serve visitors and the Redeemer family alike. This team is part of the Worship Ministry at Redeemer and they set the tone for worship each week as we welcome hundreds and hundreds of people onto our campus for worship. If you've never met a stranger and love connecting people with the right information and the right place to be, this is your opportunity to get involved.
The Production Ministry at Redeemer helps to shape our worship gatherings each week from a technical perspective in our sanctuary. The Production Team is also part of our Worship Ministry at Redeemer and this team sets the tone for worship throughout all of our services. Serving as part of the Production Ministry is ideal for people who have a passion for worship and are energized by the use of technology to communicate the Gospel. Although it is helpful for those who serve in the Production Ministry to have some technical experience, it is not necessary and we will train anyone who shares our passion for worship and technology.
Austin Disaster Relief Network
ADRN is a local organization comprised of many Austin area churches (including Redeemer) who train volunteers to bring hope in times of crisis in the central Texas area. ADRN's primary goal is to serve Christ by sponsoring families affected by disaster through financial assistance, emergency housing and transportation, emotional and spiritual care, and by connecting families with vital resources to help rebuild their lives and their homes.
Foundation for the Homeless
The Foundation for the Homeless, a local non-profit organization, mobilizes faith-based and community resources in a spirit of compassion to restore hope and alleviate homelessness in the Austin area. Redeemer supports Foundation for the Homeless through their Feed My People program, a program open to anyone experiencing homelessness and poverty. People receive a hot breakfast and other services such as basic medical screening, eyeglasses, and more.
