Redeemer is actively involved in the Austin area community to show God’s love for people throughout the city. Each week our members are involved in many community ministries, but you don’t need to be a member of Redeemer to volunteer, and all of these opportunities are great ways to serve our community! This includes:
Faith in Action Caregivers
Redeemer partners with North Central Caregivers to provide transportation, handy-man work and an assortment of other tasks to the elderly. If you are interested in this ministry, please contact Randy Kerkman. If you would like to receive help, please contact North Care Caregivers.
Habitat for Humanity
Austin Habitat for Humanity strives to build homes for those who live in substandard housing, and Redeemer assists this organization by supplying a team to do a project every so often. If you would like to be part of the Redeemer team, contact Randy Kerkman. If you would like more information or would like to assist without Redeemer, visit Austin’s Habitat for Humanity official website.
Redeemer does not operate as a food pantry, but we do take collections and donate them to St. Louis Catholic Church and Caritas of Austin frequently. If you would like to donate items to either of these food pantries, you are more than welcome to bring your items to Redeemer, and we will store them in a temporary area.
Feed My People Breakfast
Redeemer supports the Feed My People organization in Austin by providing volunteers on the 4th Thursday of every month. Donate your time by assisting with breakfast for the homeless at 5am, and you can even bring your family! Contact Randy Kerkman or go to Feed My People directly!
Worship at Marbridge
Marbridge is residential facility for mentally challenged men in Manchaca. Redeemer leads worship for them on the 5th Sunday of the month. If you are interested in volunteering in this capacity, contact Randy Kerkman.
Sanctity of Human Life
Redeemer partners with Austin Life Care financially to provide support to women and families of LifeCare Pregnancy Services to promote the sanctity of human life. If you are interested in donating towards this cause, contact Randy Kerkman.
Texas Ramp Project
No previous skill necessary! Redeemer takes a team of people to build ramps for the mobilely impaired in the Austin area on the 4th Sunday of each month. Redeemer has our own team, but you can visit Texas Ramps to find another team to join if you choose.
Redeemer has a group that provides blood pressure checks from September to May every year, and we sponsor blood drives throughout the year. Contact Randy Kerkman for the schedules of both of these events!
Redeemer has been helping assist people affected by disasters for a few years, including trips to New Orleans, Beaumont and Bridge City. We take trips often, so contact Randy if you’re interested!
Interfaith Hospitality Network
Redeemer assists homeless families for one week a few times during the year. As our care house was destroyed by the winter of 2011, we cannot host on-campus any longer.
Angel Tree Ministry
We give Christmas gifts for Austin-area children who’s parents are incarcerated. This minstry takes place each year beginning in November.
